Heritage Commons is extraordinarily well-equipped and beautifully appointed to ensure you a carefree, safe, secure, very comfortable retirement lifestyle. At Heritage Commons, our goal is to make sure that our residents do not have to sacrifice their quality of life in order to be in a more safe and secure home. As a part of our senior living apartments, we feature a wide range of amenities to provide our residents with everything they need to enjoy their stay. From our elegant dining room and in-house fitness room to residential lounges and laundry room, our staff is here to help you. Large Scenic Patio

You’ll find company and enjoy the outdoors on our large, 2700-square-foot patio. The patio, set on a lush lawn, boasts picturesque views of flowers and trees offsetting the Coginchaug River. Besides our beautiful goldfish pond, you can observe a variety of birds and small animals in their natural habitat. Our patio provides a great place to socialize, read, dine, and relax in the sun. It also provides the perfect setting for cookouts, entertainment, and celebrations, like our big Summer Garden Party.

Restaurant Style Dining Room

Our dining room serves a wide variety of delicious home cooked meals freshly prepared every day. variety of deliciously prepared gourmet meals each evening. The atmosphere is that of a fine restaurant, yet the mood is relaxed, friendly, and informal. Our chefs use the finest quality ingredients, with fresh deliveries arriving several times weekly. All meals prepared offer the proper nutrition and balance that is essential to senior health. Our kitchen serves low sodium meals, relying mainly on stocks and spices for seasoning and zero-cholesterol cooking oils. Options include heart healthy entrees, diabetic desserts and gluten-free choices. Our chefs are happy to accommodate your dietary needs.

Activity Room

With seating for 32 at four large tables, the first-floor Activity Room is Heritage Commons’ headquarters for arts and crafts, bingo, cards, or any activity that requires space to spread out.

The HAIRitage Salon

Our stylist offers a full range of services including women’s and men’s haircuts, wash and sets, coloring, perms and manicures. The salon is a great place to visit with friends and pricing is very reasonable.

Fitness & Game Room

Our fitness & game room includes treadmills, exercise bicycles, a multi-function training machine, free weights, and a doctor’s scale. A staff member is always available to assist and instruct you in the use of all equipment. We also have a Nintendo Wii game system so you can play virtual games and sports – stay active and have fun at the same time! You can also keep your mind fit with many of our board games, also found in this fun room.

General Store

Our General Store carries over 300 items including canned and packaged foods, dairy products, snack foods including cookies and candy bars, pet food, cleaning and laundry products, batteries (including hearing aid batteries), paper supplies, and personal care products. The store is run by resident volunteers, so shopping is also a great time to socialize. Store prices are competitive and often lower than supermarket pricing.

Resident Lounges

We have two lounge areas for our residents to relax or socialize with friends throughout the day. One area has tables in front of our floor-to-ceiling windows where there are always puzzles out for residents to work on together. We also have space for residents to sit and sip a cup of coffee (that is available to you throughout the day) and enjoy each other’s company! Our other lounge area across the way features our piano and is one of the hubs of social life at Heritage Commons. Newspapers are delivered daily. This is a great place to catch up on current events, visit with neighbors, or just relax by the floor-to-ceiling glass wall looking onto the goldfish pond and the woods beyond. And of course there’s a piano. But even if you don’t play that’s not a problem – ours is a player piano, so all you have to do is pop in a piano roll to get the party started!

Resident Laundry Room

Heritage Commons’ bright, spotless laundry room includes five coin-operated washing machines and dryers and several large laundry carts that make it easy to transport your laundry to and from your apartment. Change is always available at the Front Desk.

Library

The Heritage Commons Library is a wonderful place to curl up on one of our comfy couches or chairs with a good book. We have a 3,000-volume collection, including 300 large-print books and many periodicals. The Heritage Commons Book Club meets in the library once a month. They discuss books across genres, challenging themselves to expand their literary horizons. At our library entrance there is a display table, updated monthly with new selections of featured books and those chosen by our book club. Here you can also find informational flyers about the books on display as well as bookmarks about the book club.

Private Dining

Heritage Commons’ elegant private dining room offers views of the patio and garden from the floor-to-ceiling windows. The private dining room accommodates up to 16 people and is a perfect place for hosting family and friends for any special occasion.

TV Lounge

Our big-screen TV lounge includes a new 55-inch, high-definition Smart TV. Movies, with selections ranging from the latest releases to classic films, are shown biweekly. Enjoy pizza and refreshments during these featured films. The TV Lounge also hosts a variety of exercise classes for residents to attend. Some are played on the TV, while others are taught in person by the YMCA. You can also enjoy presentations on various subjects here as well.
